
ardy Pictures is an award-winning independent production company specialising in red-blooded factual drama and documentaries.
The company was founded by acclaimed director Justin Hardy in 2005, with producers Sue Horth and Lucy Bassnett-McGuire, to capitalize on a collective love of history. The company has since achieved consistent critical and awards success and increased turnover year-on-year.
The company’s first production, Trafalgar Battle Surgeon, won the RTS Award for Best History Film, 2005.
A Harlot’s Progress, broadcast in 2006, received two BAFTA nominations and paved the way for the recent hit Channel 4 series, City of Vice, currently nominated Best Drama Series at the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain Awards 2008.
The Relief of Belsen, a powerful medical drama highlighting the unsung heroes of the Second World War, won Best Single Drama at the Broadcast Awards 2008 and has received BAFTA, RTS, Grierson and Televisual nominations.
1066, an original two-part drama plunging the audience into the infamous year of three battles, will hit screens in early 2009.
